ASTM A312 TP309 is an austenitic stainless steel grade containing higher chromium and nickel compared to 304. This composition significantly improves oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures.

TP309 welded pipes are manufactured by rolling stainless steel strip and longitudinally welding using TIG or automated welding processes. These pipes are primarily used in furnace and thermal processing systems where continuous exposure to high temperatures occurs.
Unlike 304 or 316 grades, SS 309 is specifically engineered for heat resistance rather than general corrosion resistance.
